Ever heard of the CTA Holiday Train?

Hobbes and Juli are too big to fly so they stayed home this year. As you can see, I don’t think that they missed us.

I sent my sister a text message after we landed in Missoula. Her response was “we are in evaporate”. If you are from Western Montana you know that “evaporate” probably means the two-horse town of Evaro. Needless to say she lied and we were greeted by quite a party at the airport.

I don’t exactly know when it started, but my grandmother collects nutcrackers. Her collection has definitely grown over the years and it is always such a joy to see her display during the holidays.

This past summer when I was home I took the tarp off of my 1971 VW Super Beetle, wiped away some cobwebs and drove it on the backroads. That might not sound very exciting but the kicker is that the “Gruezi” had been sitting under the hay shed for nearly 2 years! Christmas seemed like another appropriate opportunity to take it for a spin. I dragged Todd on a(n) (un)successful fishing trip to McDonald Lake.

My Uncle John came home this year from Corvallis, Oregon. We decided to remind him what snow looks like with a bumpy ride up to Mission Dam.

Emily took us out on the last day that we were in Montana to look for owls. We saw one great horned owl, numerous bald eagles and some snowy owls. Unfortunately, you will have to see them for yourself because I didn’t take any pictures.
